Programs: Workforce Initiatives A major part of our program is our paid job internship program, which continues to grow every day. A large problem that keeps these youth from continuing to attend programs that are helping them is their need for money to meet their financial obligations. When their work schedule interferes with their education, these youth usually believe they have no choice but to choose their job first, because they must have money to survive. When we were able to assist youth by offering them the opportunity to work and continue their education, it made such a positive difference in their lives, including an increase in all their educational and life skills classes. Youth are taught a variety of job skills that they can use now and in the future. Through our PACE Setters training, youth develop and put into practice many different management skills. Classes address how to find a job, how to get a job, how to plan for a career, and many other skills relevant to entering the workforce. By running the Hearts to Nourish Hope food pantry, youth are able to put their new skills into realistic practice, where they learn from their successes as well as their mistakes. Hearts to Help Internship program Each person receiving food from the pantry must contribute. |
