Hearts to Nourish Hope is a not-for-profit organization with two main goals: to keep the community safe and to encourage youth to explore and develop their potential for good. Hearts prepares youth to succeed by giving them the tools needed for success then offering continued support as they become productive members of society.

Staff member recording information in students' daily logs.Hearts to Nourish Hope first teaches young people that they do have positive choices then equips them with the skills needed to make those choices. Youth are taught in both group and individual settings. While in our programs, at-risk youth are given an education, life and job skills, and an opportunity to contribute positively to the community. Youth are held responsible for the choices they have made and are able to learn new skills to help them make better choices in the future. Accountability is a central theme of the program, for both youth and their parents.

The organization's greatest strength is that it listens to the community. The programs sponsored by Hearts to Nourish Hope are guided by the concerns of local agencies and individuals. Clayton County Public Schools, Clayton County Juvenile Court, DFACS, Clayton State University, and a number of local and regional businesses are active and ongoing partners.

Currently, Hearts serves over 260 young people, roughly equal numbers of males and females, primarily from Clayton County.  Program participants are typically low-income youth 12-25 years of age, who may have been suspended, expelled, or dropped out of school, and who are sometimes involved with the juvenile court system or DFACS. Participants typically stay with the program for 9 to 16 months.
