Programs: Community Service Initiatives Through the operation of our food pantry the youth help to feed over 300 families each month with food baskets at our location. The food pantry is how our students are able to put their skills into realistic practice, to be held accountable, and to give back to the community. Hearts to Help This helps to address the community risk factor of Low Neighborhood Attachment. The risk factor, Family Management Problems, is addressed through the individual work we do with each family and the work we do with the youth while at our program. Lack of Commitment to School is one of the big focuses in our program. Through our Suspension Program we help to not only encourage youth to stay in school but also give them skills and support to make this possible. We strive whenever possible to get youth back into the public school system. Alienation and Rebelliousness and Favorable Attitudes Toward the Problem Behavior are addressed with all the youth who are in our program. These high-risk youth work on their problems through our life and job skills classes. There are other risk factors that we address as well but these are the main ones. Each person receiving food from the pantry must contribute. |
